Tipu Sultan was the ruler of the kingdom of Mysore in South India. He was born on 1 Dec 1751 as the Eldest son of Sultan Hyder Ali of Mysore. Tipu Sultan was known for his campaigns against the British East India Company which had established itself in India.
Tipu-Sultan succeeded his father in 1782 and continued the resistance against the British. He fought four wars against the British, the last of which was the fourth Anglo-Mysore war, which he lost. Tipu Sultan died in 1799. a great warrior
